WHY CHOOSE THIS SYSTEM

A considered view of the places that matter

The X3 turret’s adjustable field of view makes it useful when a doorway, vehicle approach or loading area needs deliberate framing. A wired path brings those separate camera views back to one local recorder.

Frame the area, then set the view

Use the motorized 5× optical zoom to tune a single camera’s view from wider context to a tighter area. Pan, tilt and rotation are set manually at the mount.

Keep everyday recording at the property

The NVR’s installed 2 TB drive supports continuous recording from the wired cameras. Local recording can continue without internet; remote access needs a network connection.

Review activity with more useful event filters

Person and vehicle detection, intrusion and line-crossing events can help focus review on activity you care about. Sensible zones and careful placement remain part of the setup.

COVERAGE PLANNING

Different spaces call for different camera positions

These property scenes are illustrations for planning. Check sightlines, lighting and cable routes on your own site before choosing camera locations.

Illustrative gated home entrance with a driveway and planted boundary for camera-position planning

ARRIVALS

Entrances and vehicle approaches

A gate or approach often needs a defined view rather than the widest possible angle. Adjust framing for the arrival area, then check night lighting, nearby walls and the route back to the recorder.

Illustrative warehouse loading bay with a distinct pedestrian entrance and vehicle approach

ACTIVITY TRANSITIONS

Loading bays and service doors

Separate pedestrian and loading activity may deserve separate camera positions. Person and vehicle events can support review; check moving obstructions, glare and protected cable entry points.

Illustrative two-building commercial property with parking, pedestrian entrances and landscaped perimeter

MULTIPLE ZONES

Parking edges and multiple buildings

Choose a camera count to match the zones you actually need to observe. Measure each full cable route and assess any between-building network work before committing to an eight-channel design.

HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS

A wired path from the scene to the recording

The included X3 cameras connect by Ethernet to the NVR’s PoE ports. The recorder stores video locally, while local displays and the Lorex Connect app offer different ways to view it.

  1. Turret cameras Your selected camera count observes the planned zones.
  2. Wired Ethernet Each camera cable carries power and data to a PoE port.
  3. Local 2 TB recorder The indoor NVR manages eight channels and stores recordings.
  4. Local or remote access Use HDMI/VGA locally, or Lorex Connect with internet access.
Black Lorex CNE01P-2TB-AB1 X3 turret camera with motorized varifocal lens

One lens. Deliberately adjustable framing.

The 2.7–13.5 mm lens provides 5× optical zoom. Aim the turret manually during installation, then adjust its field of view for the scene.

4K resolution, with the exact frame rate

The X3 turret records 3840 × 2160 at up to 25 fps. The 120 dB wide dynamic range helps balance difficult lighting; usable detail still depends on the scene and placement.

Optical zoom for purposeful framing

The 2.7–13.5 mm motorized varifocal lens offers 5× optical zoom. This adjusts the view; it does not provide motorized pan or tilt.

Events shaped around people and vehicles

Supported camera events include intrusion, loitering, wrong-way movement, unauthorized parking, line crossing and dual tripwire. Configure rules for the actual scene; detection is not a guarantee.

Color when the light supports it

Color Night Vision needs sufficient ambient light. Infrared supports black-and-white viewing up to 131 ft (40 m); range and image quality depend on conditions.

Listen-in audio and a warning light

A built-in microphone supports audio recording and is off by default. A white deterrence light is available.

Outdoor-rated cameras, indoor recorder

The aluminum turret is IP66-rated and specified from −22°F to 140°F (−30°C to 60°C). Protect cable connections and plan a suitable indoor location for the NVR.

Optional camera storage has a separate role

Each camera supports a microSD card up to 1 TB. That camera-side storage is accessed through the camera web interface and is not uploaded to the NVR, cloud or app.

Compatibility needs an exact-device check

ONVIF and RTSP support network integration, but they do not promise every feature on every device. Confirm the exact cameras, recorder and required features before adding third-party equipment.

INSTALLATION & COVERAGE

Give each camera a job before running the cable

Good planning starts with what you need to see and where the cable can safely go. The following guidance helps organize the installation; it does not replace a site-specific assessment.

ILLUSTRATIVE ROUTE PLAN

Separate zones, one indoor recording point

This four-zone example shows the planning principle. Select 2, 4, 6 or 8 cameras for your own site and measure each complete Ethernet route. Camera Ethernet cables and a router are not included.

  1. DEFINE THE VIEW

List the zones you need to observe

Start with entrances, pedestrian routes, loading areas or parking edges. Account for obstructions and the activity distance before choosing the number of cameras.

  2. PLAN THE CABLE

    Measure the full Ethernet route

Include changes in level, cable protection and entry points. Supply suitable camera Ethernet cables separately and have longer or complex routes assessed for the installation.

  3. SET THE FRAMING

Aim the turret and adjust the lens

The mount supports manual pan, tilt and rotation. Set the viewing direction, adjust the motorized varifocal lens and check the scene in daylight and at night.

  4. PROTECT THE RECORDER

    Choose a suitable indoor location

Allow airflow and access to the NVR’s power, network and display connections. Its operating range is 14°F to 122°F (−10°C to 50°C).

  5. CHOOSE HOW TO VIEW

Separate local recording from remote access

HDMI supports a local 4K display output and VGA supports 1080p. Remote Lorex Connect access needs a router and internet service.

  6. CHECK EXPANSION

Work within eight channels and the power budget

The recorder has eight PoE ports and a 100 W total PoE budget. Verify the exact device and power requirements before adding cameras, switching or other infrastructure.

BUYING GUIDANCE

Check the fit before choosing the camera count

A wired system makes the most sense when the cable routes, recorder location and viewing priorities work together.

You can route cable to each camera

The cameras rely on wired PoE for their normal NVR connection. Plan cable access before selecting mounting positions.

You want recording stored on site

The included hard drive supports local recording, with capacity choices based on how you intend to record.

Adjustable framing matters

A motorized varifocal lens can suit a defined doorway or vehicle area where fixed framing is less convenient.

Your plan fits within eight channels

Choose 2, 4, 6 or 8 cameras now, allowing for any future zones within the recorder’s supported capacity.

You require specific movement or audio features

Aim the cameras manually, adjust framing with motorized optical zoom and use the built-in microphone for audio recording where permitted.

The site spans difficult cable routes

Separate buildings and long or exposed routes may require a professionally designed network and appropriate protection.

You need a guaranteed recording duration

No fixed retention period is promised. Camera count, quality, frame rate, compression and recording schedule all affect storage.

Third-party equipment is essential

Verify model-level compatibility and the functions you need. Protocol support alone is not a universal compatibility guarantee.
